On 10/28/2023 the girls competed at the Volleyball Championship hosted at SCIS. We played our first game vs DCS Pudong and won both our sets then moved forward and played Concordia next, they were a tough team to go against and we lost both sets. For our final game, fighting for 3rd / 4th place, we went against SAS. We were able to win one set but ultimately lost and took 4th place out of 18 teams. I am so incredibly proud of this group of girls, they had a great season and fought hard to the very end. I’d like to thank everyone at school, parents and the PTA for all the love and support you’ve given us these passed 8 weeks. We end on a sad note as we have to say goodbye to 4 incredible seniors who’ve been the backbone of our volleyball team for the last 3 years – Coach Charmaine
I enjoyed this volleyball season because it’s the only time we can express our stress. I liked the moment when I spiked and all my teammates looked at me with surprised faces. Volleyball has given me confidence and made me responsive. I hope my teammates take over those feelings and enjoy it as much as I did.

For me, volleyball was just a fun hobby. However, I learned the importance of overcoming hardships and the significance of teamwork through practice and games with my teammates. Moreover, it provides me some confidence and responsibilities. Although we got 4th place, I’m really happy that we could push efforts to the end. Thank you!

This volleyball season was one of the best seasons I have experienced at SLAS. I’m glad to be captain for this season and played with great players. It has been a fun volleyball journey for me and I wish the best to next season’s players. Co Captain Cabante signing off.
Volleyball used to stress me out, especially last year when every mistake felt like a burden. I often found relief on the bench, away from the pressure. However, this year, stepping into the libero role changed everything. I became more responsible, and found myself actually enjoying practices and games, turning the volleyball into a source of enjoyment rather than stress. My teammates’ encouragement was a big part of this shift, adding to the joy I now find on the court – G12 Minami Watanabe
